Pouchly is architected as a local-first Android application. All bank transaction parsing, budgeting records, and financial analytics operate 100% on your device. We do not transmit or store your personal banking data on any external servers.
1. Information Collection and SMS Processing
To provide automatic expense detection, Pouchly may request optional access to your device’s SMS messages (RECEIVE_SMS and READ_SMS permissions).
- Local-Only Extraction: The SMS parser algorithm executes exclusively on your phone’s CPU. It isolates bank transactional keywords (such as debited amount, currency, and merchant).
- No Cloud Uploads: Neither the raw SMS text, the sender phone number, nor your personal messages are ever transmitted, uploaded, or backed up to any external server.
- Non-Financial Messages Ignored: Pouchly strictly discards and ignores personal conversations, OTPs, family texts, and promotional non-transactional messages.
2. On-Device Data Storage
All categories, envelope budgets, transaction history, and custom settings created in Pouchly are stored in a private Android SQLite Room database sandbox. This sandbox is encrypted and protected by Android’s operating system security controls, inaccessible to other apps installed on your device.
3. Third-Party Advertising (Google AdMob)
Pouchly is free to use. To support ongoing maintenance, the app incorporates Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK) to serve advertisements.
Google AdMob may collect certain non-personally identifiable device information in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy, such as:
- Google Advertising ID (GAID / AAID)
- Device make, model, operating system version, and screen size
- IP address and coarse location for regional ad delivery
- Ad interaction and diagnostic performance metrics

Our website also hosts the authorized seller record at /app-ads.txt under IAB Tech Lab compliance.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
Because all data is stored on-device, you retain 100% control over your data:
- You can delete individual transactions or categories within the app settings anytime.
- Uninstalling the Pouchly app or clearing the app storage in Android Settings instantly and permanently deletes all stored data from your device.
5. Children’s Privacy
Pouchly is not directed to individuals under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
